Twenty-two years ago, The Saw Doctors decided to take on the world with their uniquely Irish brand of rock and pop music. Against all odds, they won the battle, and today they are one of our most
successful musical exports. After a seventeen-year break, the Tuam band has recorded a number one in the Irish music charts. They successfully chased off international artists like Kings of Leon and
Pink to reach the coveted number one position, with a cover version of the Sugababes hit, 'About You Now'. The band burst onto the Irish music scene in 1986 with the hit single 'I Usedta Love Her'
and today they show no signs of flagging. The Saw Doctors remain true to their roots, singing with an accent and a blas and writing songs about the corner stones of Irish life. Listen to Leo and
Davey as they talk to Rory Dungan about how they have achieved international success and what their expectations for the future are - only on O2 Making Waves at www.podcastingireland.ie. Feel free to

Not only does Tadhg Cooke write and perform his own music, he plays the banjo, dobra and bazouki as well. It all began with one gig in Paris. He has since secured a recording label in Japan, and has
been described as 'an Irish singer who looks and sounds like nobody but himself'. His music can be classed as 'dark folk' and he's certainly a character on the Irish scene worth checking out. Catch

Fresh from winning this year's UCD Battle of the Bands competition, Gran Casino have been tipped as ones to watch for the coming future. When asked to categorise themselves in a recent newspaper
interview, they found that they could not agree on a definitive genre for their music. At once described as alternative, experimental, post-rock, quasi-classical and simply pop, the group weaves its
eclectic sounds seamlessly from one song to the next. Known, on occasion, to have up to fourteen people onstage at once, some playing three or four instruments in one show, ranging from sitar to
glockenspiel, clarinet to mandolin, this is a band which certainly promises never to bore its audience! Catch them chatting with Richie Chakra on O2 Making Waves at www.podcastingireland.ie and email
